Speaking is the skill that the students will be judged upon most in real-life situations. Speaking in the classroom is different from communication in the real situation. But our goal is to make the former more like the latter, because communication aims at improving the speaking skills. In speaking classes, teachers often find there are some factors influencing the development of oral English for middle school students, such as, status quo, teacher and student, including vocabulary quantity, sentence patterns, applying grammatical knowledge, accuracy of pronunciation and accent. Besides, materials and teaching equipments can also influence English teaching and learning.
This thesis will begin with discussing the difficulties in students’ oral expressions, and then, approach some efficient methods and skills to improve their oral English, with concrete procedures for explanation. Undoubtedly, this will be helpful to oral English teaching and learning.
